FGC is a culturally sensitive meeting, initiated by Family and Children's Services Niagara, that brings together a family network of relatives and friends, with the child protection worker and service providers. The purpose of the process is to develop a plan to ensure the safety and well-being of children. FGC engages families in the decision making process so that they may use their abilities and strengths to develop plans that are in the best interest of the children and ensures that their needs are met.
The Adult Protective Service Worker (APSW) Program provides information on resources and services for adults with a developmental disability. We explore options with individuals in order to assist people with goal setting and decision making, we help to coordinate services and work in partnerships with other community agencies to improve the economic and social conditions of adults with developmental disabilities.
Through our association with Family Services Employee Assistance Programs we provide professional, confidential counselling and consultation services for organizations that help employees and their families with a broad range of personal and work-related concerns; health and wellness education through group seminars, newsletters and other information on several health related topics and training for supervisors and employers to help them resolve conflicts, manage people and recognize when employees' personal problems are affecting their work.
FKSS provides psycho-educational and support groups for foster parents, adoptive parents or kinship caregivers of children who have, or are suspected of having, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder.
