Adult Protective Service Worker Program (APSW)

What we do?

  • Work with individuals to assist them to live safely, securely and independently in the community
  • Assist individuals with accessing and maintaining services and supports in the community
  • With a person’s consent and direction, explore options with individuals to assist with decision-making and goal setting
  • Promote Social Inclusion
  • Assist with Coordination of Services
  • Person Centred Planning
  • Work in partnership with a variety of community agencies to improve the economic and social conditions of adults with developmental disabilities

Client Services Provided:

  • Case management and service coordination
  • Medical and dental service coordination
  • Assistance with landlord and tenant issues
  • Budget management and banking assistance
  • Life skills development
  • Abuse awareness training
  • Advocacy and rights advice

To Qualify for Service You Must:

  • Be a resident of Niagara Region
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have a confirmed developmental disability
  • Voluntarily request service
  • Live independently or be moving towards independence
  • Be referred to the program by Developmental Services Ontario Hamilton – Niagara Region (DSO HNR)
